Identification
Collingwood and Agosti (1996) - HW 1.64; EL/HW 0.24-0.26. A smooth-sculptured, black, large-eyed species. A further character is the postpetiole which has the ventral surface flat without an anterior projection.

- Type-material: holotype worker, paratype workers, paratype queens, paratype males (numbers not stated).
- Type-localities: holotype Saudi Arabia: Wadi Khumra, 10.ii.1978 (W. Büttiker); paratypes with same data, paratypes Saudi Arabia: Khashm Khafs, 25.i.1981 (W. Büttiker).
- Type-depository: NHMB (perhaps also in WMLC).
