The following key to Australian Echinopla is based on Taylor (1992).[1]
- Metanotal groove distinct, interrupting dorsal surface of mesosoma => Echinopla australis
- Metanotal groove absent, dorsal surface of mesosoma without an impression between the mesonotum and propodeum => Echinopla turneri
