  • 1963 born in Vienna
  • 1981 - 1991 Study of Biology (Zoology & Botany) at the University of Vienna
  • 1987 - 1990 Thesis at the Natural History Museum Vienna with the title "Beiträge zu einer Revision der Cheloninae unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Tribus Phanerotomini (Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Cheloninae)" [Contributions to a revision of Cheloninae with special regards to the tribe Phanerotomini (Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Cheloninae)] (Diss. Zool. Inst. Univ. Wien, 585 pp., 1990)
  • 1991 Graduation as "Doctor philosophiae"
  • since 1992 employed at the Natural History Museum Vienna as curator of the Hemiptera Collection in the entomological department
  • since 1980 Studies on Central European and Mediterranean Coleoptera, primarily dealing with faunistics of Austria and adjacent countries, lateron identifications of Palaearctic Tenebrionidae and Carabidae, mainly from various own collectings in alpine regions, Southeast Europe and North Africa. Present research on taxonomy of Philippine Cicindelidae.
  • since 1986 Studies on Hymenoptera, mainly in the course of the doctor thesis work on Braconidae, subfamily Cheloninae (world wide), further some studies on the Austrian Hymenoptera fauna (e.g. a project on the Hymenoptera fauna of the Hundsheimer Kogel in Lower Austria, the Austrian fauna of Serphidae, identifications of Aculeata for different projects and thesis works), and some smaller studies on Palaearctic Braconidae. Presently studies on faunistics and ecology of Aculeata in xerotherm habitats in Austria. Biodiversity and taxonomy of Philippine ants.
  • since 1992 Studies on aquatic and semiaquatic Heteroptera, main interest on the Oriental and Malesian fauna, especially working on the material from own expeditions and material deposited in the Natural History Museum Vienna. Special interest in Helotrephidae, Aphelocheridae, Hebridae, and Veliidae. See the following projects.
