Identification
Mera-Rodriguez, et al. (2020) - Mandible with five teeth; lateral corner of cephalic vertex with long horn-like extensions; mesosoma with a large, spine-like posterior pronotal tubercle and a large anterior mesonotal tubercle; mesonotal protuberances spine like; and mesosoma with squamate hairs (Mackay and Baena 1993).
Distribution
Mera-Rodriguez, et al. (2020) - Known from Panama and the Pacific coast of Colombia (MacKay and Baena 1993; Fernández et al. 1996; Fernández and Sendoya 2004).

- Type-material: holotype worker, 39 paratype workers, 1 paratype queen, 1 paratype male.
- Type-locality: holotype Colombia: Nariño, Sanquianga, 2°35’N, 78°21’W, 20 m., 19.i.1990, no.SQ07 (M. Baena); paratypes with same data.
- Type-depositories: UVCC (holotype); BMNH, ICAT, ICNB, LACM, MCZC, MIZA, MZSP, UVCC (paratypes).
- Status as species: Bolton, 1995b: 167; Fernández & Serna, 2019: 850.
- Distribution: Colombia, Panama.
